In North America, trucking companies must file eManifests with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) through the ACE system for US-bound shipments, and with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) through the ACI system for Canada-bound shipments.

Before electronic filing became mandatory, carriers relied more heavily on paper-based processes. Today, border-clearing software can centralize eManifest preparation and flag missing data before submission. BorderPro does this for drafts during early access; it does not yet transmit filings or receive status updates from customs systems.

Software can reduce repeated data entry, but it does not guarantee acceptance, release, or a particular crossing time. Carriers remain responsible for accurate filings and applicable pre-arrival requirements.
